Search ads are the one marketing channel you can switch on and off like a tap. That is also why they are dangerous for busy owners: left unwatched, an account can spend a month's budget on searches that never become jobs. We run the account for you, under a ceiling you set, and trim it every week.
What this service is
We plan, build and manage Google Search campaigns aimed at the specific jobs you want more of in Coquitlam and nearby cities. The work does not stop at setup. Each week we review the actual searches that triggered your ads, block the useless ones, shift money toward what produces calls, and adjust for your schedule.
The account lives in your name, with billing on your card. We work inside it as managers, so the history and data stay yours whatever happens.
Who it is for
Search ads suit a business that can say yes to more work quickly:
- Trades with gaps in the schedule, such as a renovator between big projects or an electrician whose winter slows down.
- Businesses launching a new service, where organic search will take months to catch up.
- New companies that need their first enquiries while the website and profile mature. See the launch service.
They do not suit owners who are booked solid for two months. Paying for clicks you cannot serve is the fastest way to waste money and annoy customers.
Setting the ceiling: a worked example
The spending ceiling comes from your own numbers. Here is the arithmetic for a fictional bathroom-repair job; replace the figures with yours.
| Step | Example figure |
|---|---|
| Average job value | $1,800 |
| Gross margin after labour and materials | 40%, so $720 |
| Share of margin you will spend to win a job | 25%, so $180 |
| Enquiries it takes to win one job | 3 |
| Most you can pay per enquiry | $60 |
| Extra jobs you can handle per month | 6 |
| Monthly ad ceiling | 6 × 3 × $60 = $1,080 |
If the account cannot produce enquiries near $60 each after a fair test, the answer is to change the offer, the pages or the target areas, not to keep raising spend. The owner-hours guide uses the same approach to value your time.
What is included
- Campaign plan listing the jobs, areas and ceiling, approved by you before launch.
- Keyword and negative-keyword lists built around how Coquitlam customers phrase their searches, with job-seekers, do-it-yourself queries and out-of-area searches blocked.
- Ad copy and landing pages that match. An ad for "hot water tank replacement" should land on a page about exactly that, which is why this service pairs well with websites built and kept running.
- Call tracking setup so we can count calls from ads, not just clicks.
- Weekly management: search-term review, bid and budget changes, pausing and restarting around your schedule.
- Monthly report: spend, calls, enquiries, cost per enquiry and what we changed.
Timeline
Setup takes about two weeks: plan, build, tracking, approval. The first four to six weeks are a learning period in which we cut waste aggressively. After that, the account settles into steady weekly management, and the numbers become reliable enough to make bigger decisions.
How results are measured
The core figure is cost per enquiry: total ad spend divided by calls, texts and emails that came from ads. Clicks and impressions appear in the report, but only as clues. If cost per enquiry sits below your maximum and the enquiries are the right kind of job, the account is working.
We also ask you to tell us which enquiries turned into booked work, even roughly. That one habit lets us move money from searches that bring tyre-kickers to searches that bring paying customers.
Mistakes to avoid
- Broad targeting across all of Metro Vancouver when your crew works the Tri-Cities.
- Sending every ad to the home page. Specific searches deserve specific pages.
- Never reading the search-terms report. It is where most waste hides.
- Judging the account in week one. Early data is noisy; judge it on a full month.
- Letting the agency own the account. Keep it in your name, always.
Compare the plans on the pricing page or read the services overview. To start, call, text or email us with your average job value and the jobs you want more of. We are a marketing service, not a contractor, and we never perform the work your ads promote.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I spend on ads?
Start from what one job earns you, not from a round number. Work out the most you can pay for one enquiry and still profit, multiply by the enquiries you can actually handle, and that is your ceiling.
Is the ad budget part of your fee?
No. Ad spend is billed by Google to your own card in your own account. Our fee covers the setup and weekly management and is stated separately in the proposal.
Can I pause ads when I am fully booked?
Yes, and you should. Text us when the calendar is full and we lower spend or pause campaigns the same business day where possible, then restart them when you have room.
Why not just boost posts on social media?
Boosted posts reach people who are scrolling. Search ads reach people typing the job they need done right now, which is usually closer to a booked appointment for a trade.
